i was going to tack weld new corner pieces on the cab & a new btm. for the trd door. i screwed the pieces in place & then hooked the ground for the welder to the springs (leaf). i couldn't get a spark so i moved the ground to the door latch; still no spark. I DID NOT DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND, which i've now been told i should have done. since then the truck has been hard to srart & there are times i have to jump it in order to start. it doesn't take much of a jump but for the last two days that is the only way to get going. once started it is fine as long as u don't turn it off. Apparently I've fried something but where do I start looking; fuses, alternator, starter?????

check underhood fuses first as well as starter relay . check what've pointed out in pic I dont' think you fried the battery mega fuse unless you are bypassing the battery but check that as well.

checked all the fuses yesterday & put that electric grease on them for easier removal. Will get out book & find out where starter relay is. Hope that's it.

exchanged the "relay". I thought that thing was a fuse when I first opened the box & when I tried to check 4 continuity I came up blank. Put in new one & so far so good; it's starting ok & you can believe I will disconnect bat before I do any welding. Think I will try to ground direct to oiece that's being put on. Thanks loads for your help; when you said relay I was thinking of the big firewall mounted ones (Back in the day type). I'm 71 so I haven't quite caught up to all the new stuff yet but each day is a new adventure!!!
Thanks again Jake Henry
