vibrating/shaking at all speeds

My car has started shaking in the last couple of weeks. I would say that it has gotten worse over time. At low speed, less than 20 MPH, it is more of a wobble through the entire car. Meanwhile, at speeds 20 MHP or more it is a shake/vibration. This is both in the steering wheel as well as the car as a whole.

Additionally, If I let go of the steering wheel the car and steering wheel very quickly begins to move to the right.

I don't know what other information would be helpful but any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

First, check tires to make sure a belt hasn't separated causing it to no longer be round. If everything is good, safely lift the front of the vehicle and confirm that both tires turn with just a little drag. You may have a caliper stuck which may have overheated warping the rotor. My suspect is the right side (passenger side) since it is pulling to the right.

If that doesn't help, let me know if the check engine light is on, if there is any change when you apply the brakes, or anything other you can think of. For example, let me know if you hit a big hole.

I do not remember hitting any big holes, however I have driven in a lot of snowy conditions recently and there are often smaller potholes in the road. My check engine light was on for a while but it has now turned off. I also have a low tire pressure reading but it seems to be false as I have checked and topped off all tires to the appropriate amounts and the low tire pressure light stays on.

I don't have the ability to lift my car by myself. Would you recommend taking into a repair shop to have them look at it?

Hi,

If you are unable to lift it to check, yes, please have it checked. When you feel something like this, usually something is loose or worn out and can potentially be dangerous.

If you would feel more comfortable, please feel free to let me know what you are told before having the repairs. I should be able to tell you if they are recommending something that makes sense. Too often, I see shops take advantage with the well known, "in the near future, you will need". I'm sure you know what I mean. It was found that approximately 80% of suggested repairs and service that was recommended by a shop was completed within a month by the same shop making the suggestion. It's the power of suggestion.
