2002 BMW X5 Fuel Filter change

Hi there
I have a BMW X5 3.0d Sport Auto and have started using bio diesel. I was told after 2 weeks to change the fuel filter which i have. The car starts but will not get over 3000rpm. Dealer has told me that i should have flushed the fuel out before change but other people have have said not. Can you advise??

It is not necessary in most vehicles but any time you are having issues after the switch then it is a good idea to start over.

What I would do is drain the tank and put regular fuel in the vehicle and confirm there are no issues.

Then drain the tank or run it almost empty and then fill it with biofuel.

What happens in a lot of higher end vehicles like this is the controller is not able to detect the fuel that is being used based on how it is burning and derates the engine.

So, we want to do one other thing which is check for codes and find out if there are any pointing to a fuel issue.

Basically, anytime we are changing something like this, it is always best to start over and confirm this is even related to the fuel. If not, then we can figure out the next steps.
