When you say "They respond" what does this mean? The drivers seat switch is the master for the steering column and the seat, if there is a problem, it might be in the seat switch. The oil service reset is as follows: Get in and shut the door. Insert the key. The instrument cluster has two buttons, hold the left one down. Turn the key to the first position. Keep the button pushed until the display changes/begins to flash. Release and then immediately push the button again. The display will change again. Release the button and press it one more time and the service interval is reset.

As to the manual, Amazon.com has Robert Bentley publication for BMW, I find them to be exceptional.

Appreciated..these seat controls will move a milliimeter every third or fourth time I hit the button, so 1000 touches to the button might move the seat an inch or two, the steering column wont move at all. I will try the switch, but on other forums the problem seems to be one of those things no one can figure out. There is also a clicking noise when I shut the car down in the rear passenger area. Like a antenna motor or something bound up. I like the vehicle except for my lack of ability to work on it much, and the threat of major repairs. The cost was good but I am hhearing electrical sob stories.

The noise is tough to guess at from cyberspace. Can you pinpoint the noise? It may also be related to the specific equipment on your vehicle, what are the last 7 of the VIN? The seat switch thing may be due to a shorted motor or infected BUS communication, a scan with the proprietary BMW software should be performed to uncover underlaying issues.
