I took my car in for emissions testing, and it came back with error code PO171 system too lean, bank 1 (2). So I guess theres a whole bunch of things to check out, and I ordered a 02 sensor. I am driving the car till the sensor comes in, and I go out to the car one morning and it won't start. It turns over, but starts after a very long time. When it does start, you press on the gas pedal, and it dies.

I can't afford an audi mechanic, so my neighborhood mechanic is trying to figure it out, but with no sucess.
please help.

this is a very common problem on these Audi you can only get the parts to fix it at the dealership go into the dealerships parts department and ask them to sell you the parts for the PVC system that has malfunctioned on your car they will know exactly what you're talking about

I was asking for novice help on what audi owners might think the problem is, not someone who owns a dealership and wants me to buy the parts at inflated prices. Rock Auto sells OEM parts at great prices.

I was asking for help from other audi owners, not an audi dealership owner who wants me to buy parts from a dealer at way over inflated prices.

I apologize I was trying to make it easy on youto be able to go to the dealer and have them pull it up on their computer and give you all the part numbers of the various parts that you need which is a PVC valve the T that it fits into and the other part is called the pancake valve

Thanks anyway, They won't give me the part number because they know I will buy it online. But parts manager told me it didn't matter because parts places can't tell anything from the dealers oem number.

they wouldn't even show me a picture of the part i need on their computer screen.

I can still help you find all the parts you need I just want to make sure that we have diagnosed the problem correctly watch this video and follow the procedures and then bring me word if not we will have to go somewhere else.
