Transmisson shifting hard

What you can try and have done if one is available is to have the transmission control module software updated. If the software is current then with 170k miles you will most likely need to replace the transmission. Of coarse proper fault tracing needs to be carried out first. You would need to have the transmission control module scanned for fault codes and diagnose the problem. If it is an issue with a solenoid or temp sensor then you should remedy that first.
