2001 Volvo S60 code issue

I just changed the engine and the gear shift inside is lit on D all the time regardless of which gear your in. I also have a code aw50 coming up and can't find any info on this.

That code is a generic trouble code. . That code corresponds with a Volvo specific code for a trouble code in the TCM. When a fault is stored in the TCM, it also sets that code in the ECM software the check engine light comes on as part of a redundant system. You need to have the codes in the TCM read, which not all scanners can do.
If you use an ODB11 scanner you may get a code from the transmission
P0785 Malfunction solenoid of syncrenation gear change this will have to be checked by a trans specialist.
