i have a 1FZFE 4.5 litre petrol engine in a 2001 toyota landcrusier with a 4 speed automatic now the problem is that the car is missing and is down on power it feels like the truck is only running on 4 cylinders i know it is hard to diagnose the problem without seeing the vehicle but if you could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

first get the computer scann for codes. this vehicles' computr keeps a record of cylinder misfires and could tell you which cylinder is causing your problem. once that is determined you'll have to check the spark plug, ignition coil, and spark plug wire (if equipped) for that cylinder.
If you still can't find the problem, have a compression check ran on that cylinder.
Don't forget to check for vacuum leaks which could be exclusive to that cylinder, causing the misfire.

Faulty coils are a known problem, check plugs and leads as well, start here.

a computer scan will tell you which cylinder is affected so you will know which coil to check out.
