Just replaced coil pads & plugs myself 2 wks ago. Misfire went away & car was running great. Today, after driving 30 mins and car parked for 15 mins. Electrical smell & smoke came out from under hood. Thought it was going to catch on fire. Turned it off for 10 mins. Turned on ignition switch, but did not turn over engine, strong electrical smell again. (was trying to put it in neutral to push car up so as not to block driveway). Immediately turned switch off. Had hood open & looked like the smoke was coming from the front coil pad, plug on right. Like it burnt hole thru side of pad towards center of engine. top of engine scorched. Could it be faulty coil pads. about $100 each at autozone. Left it in driveway & caught ride to work. Any suggestions, can't afford a new car yet. Thank You. Wendy

the coils may have shorted internally but in this case i bet you need a pcm as well from the damage. also, the wiring will have to be inspected and repaired
