My fuel gauge is stuck at 3/4 full while the car is running and the odometer goes out every once in awhile. The odometer is digital. Would replacing the cluster still show my vehicles actual mileage? And how do I fix the fuel gauge?

Lets start with the odometer when you say it goes out do you mean the back light on it goes out but you can still read it and it still shows the actual mileage and counts up? Or does it do something else if so please explain in detail not there to see what it does. Also the mileage isnt stored in the cluster it just displays it.The body control module stores the mileage and sends it to the cluster to be displayed. Does the gas gauge go back down to empty when you turn it off? Haven't really seen bad clusters for bad fuel gauge issues but the fuel sending unit and the body control module issues yes.

Sorry the gas gauge goes down to empty when the car is off and up to 3/4 only with the car on. And the actual numbers on the odometer go out. The backlight still works

I have never seen that happen before with the numbers can you take a picture when it happens and post it?That way i can get a better idea of whats going on since i can't see it for myself .Have you checked for codes in the computer yet? Atleast for the engine? It would be nice if you could see what the body control module codes said if there were any . That would take a advanced scan tool not a diyer one or free code read at the auto parts store.
