Is Sears ripping me off?

I have a 2001 Saturn L200 that I love and have always serviced regularly. It developed a slow leak of my antifreeze.Since I began a new job requiring lots of miles daily, I took the car to my local Sears (needed to use my Sears card!)and the installed a new water pump. When I picked the car up at 1 minute to closing. the car was already pulled out, so they just checked me ou and showed me the door. I started the car and noticed, OVER the blaring radio which I rarely even turn on, a loud squealing noise. Sears was locked up tight! I took it back the next day and was given a loaner car when I compained to the manager, who assured me that he would "make it right" That was Thursday and it is now Monday. His phone message to me on Sunday was "Don't pick up your car until Wednesday, through no fault of Sears, your tension rodmust be replaced. My question: Should that rod have been replaced at the same time as the pump? Wouldn't the mechanic have heard the squeal too? (?Radio blaring to hide it??) Thanks for any answer befor I pick my car up!
