I have an '01 Sunfire. Went in to mechanic with complaint of AC/Heat only working on switches 3 and 4, but my main concern was that I suspected my fan was not going on. I would be sitting in traffic or at long red lights, RPMs would rise, hear slight clicking sound, A/C would become warm, temp would rise. This would "fix" itself as traffic started moving again and my car was not idle. So, he replaced fan. Now, that problem is gone (other than the switch still only working on 3 & 4) but now there's a new problem of knocking noise under hood which was NOT there before he replaced the fan. He thinks it might be AC compressor. This noise happens whether the AC is on or off and is so loud. Also, why would this only have happened after he replaced my fan and never before?
