So I am working on my friends 01 bravada, he recently had to have a shop drop another engine in it because his old one died. It started to overheat the other day and spew coolant from an unknown place, he also recently replaced the coolant hoses and a new thermostat, also looks like it has an aftermarket intake manifold (its all plastic so I assume it is aftermarket. When started cold it only takes it about 15 minutes to reach 3/4 of the temp gauge, I have been able to spot anywhere that is leaking but after i shut the engine off you can squeeze the upper radiator hose (which is not very hot, and doesn't feel like any pressure was built up at all) and there is visible steam coming from somewhere. I'm pretty stumped here so any help is appreciated.

Thats our next step, ive also been told that it could be the water pump or the system may be clogged and just needs flushed.

Update: found out that it is actually the head gasket, but the odd of it is that the oil is not milky whatsoever. My thinking is that it is just the seal for the water jacket, could that be the case? If it is should I go ahead and replace the head gasket, or is there something else that could be done? I have seen some stuff around about Blue Devil head sealant, is it worth the $65?

fix the gasket and don't waste the money on sealers they don't work, and usually plug the heaters. Your coolant doesn't have to be milky for a bad head gasket
