My original issue with the pathfinder was inconsistent starting issues and the codes p1110 and p1135, which are related to the variable timing. I felt the starting issues and codes were related. I replaced the camshaft position sensor which is located in the front engine, very easy access. Now, it starts every time and codes p1110 and p1135 are gone. BUT, now I am getting code p0340( related to camshaft sensor) and sometimes idles low. So replacing the cam sensor fixed previous problems, now I am presented with new ones. I tried using a different cam sensor from a different store, but with same result. Both sensors I used had Mitsubishi stamped on them. If I erase the codes, I've noticed the check engine light only occurs at start, not when driving. Is it possible a slow starter can trigger this code? I'm trying to find simplest solutions before assuming it has a timing chain issue.

this can be a few things like a weak battery so check for condition including load test most places do for free a bad sensor which you have replaced. a bad starter not turning over fast enough, a starter circuit fault as well as a shorted cam sensor circuit like shorted or open to ground. see pic for instructions on cam sensor testing.
