What could be causing my radio to loose stations and sound staticy

i have a 2001 nissan altima. it had a dual xr4110 digital media receiver. some stations came in but some had a lot of static. best buy told me it was the radio so they put in a kenwood kdc-hd548u. now every station has at least some static and some stations don't come in at all.
