2001 Mitsubishi Galant timing belt trouble: timing marks won't align!

Hi,
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant ES with a 2.4 L SOHC engine. The timing belt broke en route, pulled it out shredded from the engine, put on new timing belts, applies tensioner: now the timing marks do not match up. When the camshaft is aligned on top timing mark, the crankshaft, balance shaft, and oil pump (almost aligned but not quite) timing marks are all off. ?? Is there a way to adjust this or does it imply damage from the timing belt breaking while en route (was traveling at 20mph, no sound when it happened).

Any help is very, very much appreciated!!

You will have bent valves, this is an interference engine, you do not hear this happen when a belt fails, it happens in a micro second.

No this will not do that, but regardless what the timing marks are showing, your first job is to fix the head, ensure that the correct belt is being used, there is no reason apart from a wrong belt or a faulty tensioner will give you this problem.
