Hello,

That switch is known as the inertia switch and triggers if you hit a large bump or if the car is jarred. It is located under the drivers or passengers side near the kick panel. Here is a diagram (below). Check the bottom on top it will be up if the sensor has been triggered. Push it down to reset it.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

Can someone post an image and a guide to find the inertia switch? Because I think I found where it is so I can change my fuel filter. I do not want to activate the wrong thing thinking it is something else.

Please help me get my car running, as I cannot find a Chilton or Haynes manual for my car. I have a new fuel pump, but need to know where the fuel pump relay and inertia switch are located? The resources I have found on line are generic at best, and totally useless at worst. Thank you!

The fuel pump relay is in the left front corner of engine compartment in battery junction box. The inertia switch is behind the left kick panel.

Sorry Louie, we posted at the same time. Your answer is correct on the Inertia switch. It is on the driver's side, not the passenger.

I was going to thank you for correcting where the inertia switch was before you told me I was right, lol. I know the Ranger trucks are on the passenger side.
