I have a 2001 mecedes 320 slk,the power seats have failed and don't operate. Approximately the same time the interior lights began to fail.I have checked the fuses for those items and it seems ok. is there a unit that controls the interior operations of the seats lights and how do i approach these promblems. Thank you for your help. my e-mail is gdavidcars @yahoo.com

Lets start by making sure the fuses are good. Remove the fuse for the seats and dome light and using an ohm meter, see if there is continuity in the fuse. That way we will know that power is available for the items.

Fuse 22 is a 30 amp fuse that powers the seat. From the fuse box, there is a red/black wire that takes power to the switch on the seat. Make sure there is power out from the fuse and trace that wire and check for power at the switch. As far as the interior lights, the fuse box under the hood (fuse #9) is a 10 amp fuse that supplies power to the light. I read through several schematics and there is nothing that I can see that they have in common. Power is supplied to the interior lights via a red/gray wire from the fuse box. See if there is power to it in the light assembly.

I will look for your reply. I have pics of wiring schematics, but for SOME reason, they won't upload. I will keep trying.
