sometimes hard to start

My 2001 Mercedes Benz ML430 sometimes lugs to a start. Usually this happens when I start it first thing in the morning. After that it usually starts right up. Is it the starter? If so what would be an honest ballpark quote from a mechanic.

It ignition takes a while to take when I turn the key in the ignition. I recently replaced the battery. Sometimes it starts right up and it is running fine with the exception of the initial starting of the engine.

Instead of starting right away it takes a few additional seconds (5-6)to catch and start running.

Sounds like it could be a weak fuel pump, have the pressure checked and go from there.
