i swapped the motor in my 2001 protege with a 1996 FS-DE 2.0L and this motor does not have a knock sensor.... is this a problem.

This is one of the reasons we only recommend direct fit parts. It could be a problem. The computer in your vehicle will depend on information from the knock sensor to adjust ignition timing. Without it there, chances are you will get a check engine light and not be able to reset it. If you live in an area that doesn't require emissions, you may be fine.

i do notice my timing off, so when u answered that question last week about the misfire i believe it has to do with the knock sensor... could i posibly put the knock sensor somewhere else or bypass it at all??

fml.... well thanks for the help looks like its time to find a new motor AGAIN lol
