Is there a need to time the distributor/ignition on a 2001 Mazda 2.5 KL engine after re-installing it? If not, why are the mounting holes slotted?

You do have to set the base timing on the 2.5, do you require the procedure?

That would great thanks. I am assuming I will need more than just the standard timing light. I used to have one mechanical distributor style engines - I assume it takes something a little more updated.

i would think there is a mark where bolt was tightened and to just put it back there? you also could have made a mark with a chisel or punch before you took it out?
