I have been hearing a rattling noise coming from under my hood. The noise occurs when I am accelerating (moderately or heavily) and when I apply the brake and sit in idle (as if I were approaching a stop sign). The rattling stops when the vehicle gains momentum and begins to automatically engage a higher gear. It also stops when I pull the hood release cable located in the cab on the driver side and when I place the vehicle in park as well. The noise is comparable to the sound of a heat shield rattling. Doesn't explain why it stops when i pop the hood though. HHEEELLP!!

WHILE IT'S A-HAPPENIN'

WALK AROUND THE HOOD AND APPLY SLIGHT HAND PRESSURE AROUND ALL OF THE EDGES (TO INCLUDE THE WINDSHIELD SIDE)

YOU MIGHT BE MISSING A RUBBER BUMPER/ OR IT NEEDS ADJUSTING

IF YOURS HAS A PROP ROD, IS IT STOWED CORRECTLY, ARE THE STOWAGE BRACKETS INTACT?

SEE IF ANY KIND OF HOSE / PLASTIC/ ANYTHING IS STICKING UP CLOSE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HOOD

INSPECT THE METAL FRAMEWORK THAT "STIFFENS" THE HOOD, SOME VEHICLES HAVE A TAR LIKE GLUE OR IS EVEN SPOT WELDED BETWEEN THOSE PIECES. SEE IF SOMETHING ON THAT ORDER HAS POPPED LOOSE.

RETURN WITH RESULTS
