Elantra shudders/chokes on acceleration

I've been having various problems recently with my Elantra, but the most persistent is that it chokes and shudders when I push on the gas. It started a few months ago, but seemed to be fixed when I replaced the spark plug wires. Now it's back, and the engine light has been on, and flashes when the acceleration goes badly. Any help is greatly appreciated!
