Hi,
HELP ME PLEASE>I have a 2001 Hyundai elantra Gt, automatic, 2.0l, 4 cylinder. I have been told that the brake switch is going on my car. I have to depress the brake pedal hard and more than once to get to shift from park to drive in the morning. Lately my car is haveing some acceleration issues, can this be due to the bad brake switch? JEss

PS how much does one cost to be put in?

The brake switch does not cost much and coupled with labor, it should be within the $100 mark.

The switch can cause accelerating problem but not likely in your case as I believe the switch is not working rather than staying on.

Ensure the brake lights are working when brake pedals is depressed. If you are not able to move out of park when the brake lights are working, it is not a problem with the switch. Check the interlock solenoids operations and adjustment.
