car cd player

i installed a cd player in my hyundai coupe 2001 model but when i'm playing a cd the antanna still comes up but with the old one i can turn the radio off

It sounds like as soon as the power to the stereo is turned on, it automatically puts up the antenna. In most cases that is normal. Did you use a different type of stereo / CD player?
