the 2001 honda civic lx wont start even with a jump. the dashboard lights flicker and there is a clicking noise possibly coming from the alternator

Check for battery voltage at the starter solenoid (small wire on starter)with key on crank, if yes and you also have good main cable conection at starter with 12V, starter is faulty, check this first
