I just purchased a 2001 GMC Yukon with 124k miles. After an 800-mile road trip, I noticed that it began to leak oil. During the road trip, (about 2 times) we noticed a smell through the A/C as though oil was burning. 1st question, are oil leaks a sign that the vehicle should be sold, that is, should we bother fixing it? 2nd question, are oil leaks fixable the first time or can this turn into a money pit? I need to weigh my options, I can't afford to purchase a new vehicle.

Ideally, you need to have a rough diagnosis performed. You may be faced with something as simple as a loose oil pan drain plug or oil filter. It should always be fixable the first time, it relies heavily on the integrity of your servicer, unfortunately.
