I bought this car with a disconnected elec connection on the trans it drives but it appears to be in top gear.

I didnt notice the connection was disconnected, The car drives good with a smooth idle.
The car goes forward and reverse with the plug undone.
when i plug in the "D" shaped plug in to the trans i get no forward movement, But reverse works normal. the check eng light is on and codes read shift solenoid 1 2 and 3 also torque converter clutch The trans fluid is not burned but, it didnt look new either.
Can the problem be the 3 shift solenoids?
and if so whats the chances all 3 went bad at the same time?
I checked the connection and found groung and power at the connection in multiple pins.

The 1 2 and 3 isn't referring to that many solenoids. There is one solenoid controlling the shifting. There is also one for torque converter clutch pressure. The shift solenoid is only about $35, while the torque converter clutch pressure solenoid is anywhere from $75-$110. Both are fairly easy to change, even for someone doing it at home. Look at the plug and go to auto parts store and ask to see both solenoid and match it up by plug. They will be different so you will be able to differentiate between them fairly easily.

I appologize, I misspoke, there are three, one for 1-2, one for 2-3, and one for 3-4. I was thinking of another model vehicle. There will be power and ground to different pins as you move the gear shift. This switching of power to different pins is what tells transmission to switch to different gear.

take this to a trans guy and let him runa scan on it as you can have a bunch of stuff wrong with it instead of blindly replacing parts. You coldhave a pcm problem/speedsensor or any of athe shift solenoids as well as the clutch solenoid. it could also be a wiring problem
