my car is fine when im driving straight, but when i back up or turn right im having major issues. when i back up i can feel the axel shift almost like a hot-wheels car, if you will. when i turn right i hear a popping noise followed by what sounds like my tire rubbing againts my wheel-well. any ideas?

Get to a tire and alignment shop for an inspection immediately. Ford has way more trouble with steering and suspension parts separating leading to loss of control and crashes than all other manufacturers combined. Noises must never be ignored, but when you have something shifting position, as you have obviously noticed, you're way overdue for serious misery.
