How to loosen the clamp nut of the pipe connected to the EGR valve

Hi:
I have attached a picture of the EGR that I believe you are dealing with. If it is different, let me know. As far as tools, it bolts on so you just need standard sockets to remove it. As far as the hoses, you have one of two attachments. First, it could be a standard barbed fitting that has a simple clamp that removes it. Or, you may have a quick connect that simply requires pushing down and uncliping the retainer. No special tools are needed.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

I'm sorry,but the EGR valve is different in my car.I believe that the picture you sent me is of the EGR solenoid with electrical connector.The EGR valve i have is made out of metal and is saucer shaped with a little opening at the top for a vacuum hose and bolted to the engine with two bolts and a metal pipe or tube connected at the bottom of it.The tube is connected to the exhaust pipe from the other end.-Ed

Okay, sorry about that. Again, no special tools are needed. The pipe is threaded on and then the bolts are straight forward. The vacuum hose will just pull off. The EGR tube does have a nut holding it to the exhaust, correct?

The pipe has a nut with a small area of exposed threads,at the top attached to it.The nut is loose on the pipe.If the EGR valve was pointed in a different direction,instead of upward,it would be so much easier to loosen the nut.I could use a regular wrench.The valve is in a small area near the firewall on the driver side,also next to the DPFE sensor.Ford made this car difficult for the weekend mechanic.-Ed

The EGR pipe has a loose nut at either end. Each end of the pipe has been flared or widened to keep the nuts on and to attach the pipe to the exhaust pipe and the valve.The nut on the valve end has a small extension of threads, to make it a male end,to screw the nut into the EGR's bottom,female threads.It's hard to see the nut and loosen it.-Ed

I honestly think they make them like this so the average person doesn't want to do the work and they stand a better chance of making more money.
