My engine just died in my 2001 Ford F250 and its going to cost $6500 to repair at the Ford house. I was concerned that if I have the engine replaced then the transmission (which has 200K on it) will go out soon. How much $ should I expect to spend if I have to have the transmission replaced? What other high dollar repairs might I anticipate? I'd like to know if perhaps buying a new truck might be a better option financially in the long run. Thanx!

You can always look at a used engine. As far as trans, it may last another 200K, just depends on maint.

Generally if repair exceeds 65% of value, it is time to look at other options.
