I went to a couple mechanic and there computer said the same thing when they found the problem. Its the solenoid b shift and it needs to be replaced or the wiring is messed up. I bought the part from auto zone and plan to replace it myself. I had problems with truck all at the dammed time. I hit a mound witch hit my pan underneath. That's when the O/D light came on along with the engine light. It also had trouble shifting to 2nd gear and would***** at times. The pan has 14 pins not 20. The engine size is5.4 l. What's the beet way to go about draining the granny fluid.

Remove pan bolts leave one one engine side two on rear. with all other bolts and pan in placeloosen front bolt then two rear just a bit keep doing that till fluid starts f;owing over front of pan. then remove front bolt all the way support pan with hand let drain then slowly lossen remaining rear bolts. suppost with hand once both backs out tilt and drain in pan. Note have some "kitty litter on hand fluid will splash around. once pan off place drain pan under valve body/filter cause it will drip for 10 days. Valve body needs removal careful to catch all check balls once body out silenoids can be removed. see diagrams

i installed an electric fan=wired to a red wire that was hot only when key was on, wire was under hood near hinge on drivers side.......truck ran great for 10 miles...next time i went to start it= would not start=blew fuse #18, fuel pump...replaced fuse and truck ran great but when put into drive, truck shook, stumbled and nearly died...thru codes PO755 = shift solenoid B malfunction and PO443= purge control valve malfunction.....disconnected fan and battery for half hour but still had the same results.

If had no problem prior to fan hook up I would suspect wiring burnt or fuse out check all fuses using a test light key on or engine running if possible check central junction box under left side of dash battery junction box left side of engine compt.
Good luck

My automatic transmission (4R70W) is not shifting properly. The diagnostic code says "Faulty Shift Solenoid B". I do most of my own engine repairs, but not tranny stuff. I'm going to replace the filter. Can I get to this solenoid easily if I drop the transmission pan?

your vehicle does not use a vehicle speed sensor for the speedometer operation..use the steps below to test your vehicle's speedometer and it should pinpoint what needs repaired/replaced.

1997 ford F-150 Standard with the 4.2L v6 and 4x4 automatic with the 2 or 4wd stick on the floor. 150K miles. I had a bad transmission and bought a new used 4x4 auto and replaced it, all finished and started the truck, fixed !! Not quite, service engine light on and when I drove it around the block it hit hard going into 2nd gear other than that it ran and shifted OK only if I pampered it and helped it shift with the gas pedal. Took it to Advanced for a code scan and the guy (Meter) said "speed sensor malfunctioning !!". Went home ramped it and took the speed sensor out and brought it to the store and got a new one and put it in and reconnected the batt cable started it and Viola!! No light, drove it around fine and parked it. Couple hours and a shower later jumped in to run up to the store(Beer), Light was on and doing the same thing. Here is the question, the old transmission has a diff. looking sensor (no gear on the end, just a snub end w/a little silver spot in the middle of the tip)

https://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/88237_551035_1.jpg

Is that the sensor I need to put in the new trans. to work with THIS transmission ? Also, the NEW sensor was not an exact match either because it had a female end next to the plug end w/an orange ring around it

https://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/88237_502183_1.jpg

and the one I replaced looked almost exact accept it had like a white cap or cover in the female end next to the plug https://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/88237_498103_1.jpg

https://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/88237_498103_2.jpg

The white one here is the one that I took out and brought to the store to replace. Did I get the wrong one and it shorted out or should I put in the one from the replaced transmission ? Please help as I am very excited that this is the last step I am sure.... Also the speedometer works fine but the Odometr turns slow, It did that before th other tranny went bad though and I am pretty sure that that is is in the odometer itself.

Jesus christ, how much info and pictures and Money do I have to give you guys to get a better answer than that. Maybe if you said "Replace it with the same one you took out" I might feel better about the $60 donation !!!!!

Again, this a case that if it was my vehicle, I would make a visit to the parts deparment at the dealer ship, because I am not a parts specialist. I am not made aware of parts that get superceded. If there was a part number on the old one the white/blue, you can call them.

Is this a superceded part? Is this a part that was mis-boxed? Is it the wrong part entirely? I don't know, but I would go to who has that answer.

I apologize for not giving you the answer you need, if I could have provided it I would have.
