2001 Ford Escape High Idle and code P1506

I have a Ford escape with a high idle and code P 1506. I have replaced the IAC and erased the code several times and still get the same code. I check the intake and all the vacuum lines with starting fluid ( I went through a whole can) and no change. I put a scanner on it and here are the readings.

I have looked up most of this online and nothing seems to out of line. Possibly the TPS needs to be cleaned but as near as I can tell the STFT and LTFT readings are inline and verify that I don't have a vacuum leak.

seepic for things to check. also check for any worn gromment on valve covers as this can effect it as well as shorted wiring or a bad pcm. also you didn't mention but try cleaning throttle plate on both sides with choke cleaner. NEVER use starting fluid for anything on a car engine.

Well that really tells me nothing...wires to what??? For example I'm not going to check wires to the crank position sensor because I don't think that has anything to do with it. With this motor config. I have not valve cover grommets...How do I check the PCM? Not much to go on.

you have to check the wiring from the iac to the pcm as well as the connections as that will set a code if they are grounded or open. I see my pic didn't come through as well. you cannot check the pcm a pro has to do that In the pic it shows most common problems causeing this which the pic I sent first time didnt' go through it look s like so check air inlet tube for cracks as well as the other stuff pointed out with the exception of the vacuum leaks as you have checked for that already.

Interesting. I would think any of air inlet issues would affect the fuel trim and the motor would have picked up the starting fluid and caused an idle issue. The wiring harness is in good shape and the inlet tube is in good shape so I guess that boils down to the PCM. Because I have to get it through emissions it is probably going to be cheaper to pay one of the shops $150 for a diagnosis and get a waiver.

wll the shop will scan it and probably do some tests with the scanner and it may pick something else up that is actually causing the problem. it cold also be a plugged or partially lugged egr
