contour ford changing alternators the belt will not fit after put the new alternator

Is the pulley on the new alt the same size as the original one?

If the new pulley is the same diameter, you either have the belt routed incorrectly or the spring-loaded tensioner pulley is sticking. I'm a professional, and I've had both happen to me more than once.
