2001 Dodge Ram P0748 code.

Truck threw this code about a year ago my brother said and he's been driving since the (OMG only my brother trust me). So now he wants to sell it and yada yada yada. So the little reading I've done it sounds like an electrical issue for the most part. I checked (exterior of trans only) the wiring harnesses and connectors they look ok. I checked the trans control relay and swapped it with a known working relay and no affect. I looked at the PCM/ECM connections and they seem ok. My next thought was to either start testing using the multimeter or just drop the pan and replace the gov. press. solenoid and also take opportunity to add clean tranny fluid and inspect things. Or should I be looking more towards the PCM/ECM as being bad? What's your opinion


Ps. I did pull the trans control relay. Put it in drive. It did start in 3rd gear and I was able to down shift into 2nd and 1st gear.

hav a trans guy look at this it may be more than what you think like an internal problem.

Actually it was exactly what I thought after some investigation. I put a multimeter on the pins and as I was trying to read on connection one of the pins popped right out. Replaced that connector cleared the code one last time fired up the truck. And it's fixed. Total repair cost $9.47.

Got a question on that dodge ram 1500 p0748 code When I was diagnosing what was going on. I was using a multimeter n a continuity tester. What I was doing using the continuity tester is I pulled the 3 PCM wiring harness connectors from the pcm and as I was testing one of the pins was the fuse b+ pin. And it did not have continuity is that supposed to be like that or should it of given me a tone (continuity)

the continuity should have been at the other end of wire

I did check at the other end of the wire. The question is the wire supposed to give me tone"when checked from the proper location" that's my question

And let me ask this. Going back to my original question. If I had that money I'd do that I wouldn't be searching online for a little help.

ya it should have but was it the right wire to the right location. I can't show you which one but on a truck of that age the colors can get misconstrued and you need to go by number on pcm or tcm.

Fusee B+ Red & White wire in color PCM location A slot black in color location at socket, #22. Should this be carrying tone when checked with a continuity tester, when probed at the proper location. With the key off , or with the key in the on position, or with the engine running, using any of those scenarios, is that wire supposed to carry tone???
