I have installed a new compressor and drier. The system has been evacuated and now its ready to be charged. Factory manual describes using a charging station that heats the freon to 125F, and then opening valves on both high and low side ports. This station is obviously for shops and not available to your home mechanic even as rental.
Can I use the ac recharge kits normally available in auto stores and walmart instead? It comes with one hose and guage to connect to low side, and you can use cans of r134. In the past I have used them to add small amounts of freon lost due to small leaks and stuff, but never used them on completely evacuated system.
