You don't repair a water pump but you don't buy a new one either. You CAN buy a new one through the dealer's parts department but those are normally only used when the car is in warranty. Normally you buy a professionally rebuilt water pump at the auto parts store. The bearings and seals are what wears out and that's what they replace. The housing is all that's reused, but that makes it cost a lot less.
