What would make a rattle in the steering column?

2001 chev 2500 LT, has a rattle that sounds like it is coming from down in the steering column. Only does it at slow speeds and is worse when I turn left.

Worn steeering linkages, steering components and suspension bushes etc can cause such. You would need to check the suspension system for damages.
