key is stuck between the on and acc settings

I just changed the ignition lock cylinder AND the ignition switch on my 01 Chevy Malibu because the key was getting stuck between off and acc and i couldn't get my key out. After I changed both, it still gets stuck in the same place! I don't know what else it could be. Any suggestions on what it is? I put these parts in last night.

play with the shifter and see if it releases the key. common failure

Tried that. Tried moving the steering wheel, pushing in on the key while turning it. Everything

nothing with steering wheel.

its the shifter cable that is the most common issue
