2001 Chevrolet Impala need advice!

Just recently my impala stopped going into regular drive it onlyy drives in d1 or 2 and randomly cuts off transmission fluid is full and I don't know what could be the problem please help

Has the check engine light come on? When it is in drive 1 or 2, does it shift through all the gears or only the ones selected.

Yes the check engine light is on it doesn't shift gears when I put it in drive it doesnt move unless I put it in drive 1or2 and it randomly cutts off

If the light is on, you need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes. I feel confident that the codes you retrieve will be related to the transmission. With today's cars, there are so many sensors and control modules, anything could be causing this. If you scan the computer, it should indicate where the problem is coming from. Most parts stores will do it for free, but it doesn't sound like the vehicle can be driven. You may need to tow it to a shop to have this done or see if you can get your hands on an OBD2 scanner and check it yourself.

The codes read.. P0122 p0452 p0300 and p0420

None of those are related to the transmission. They all deal with emissions control issues and a random engine misfire, most likely the result of an EVAP problem.

Who scanned it for you? Was the scanner used able to read codes other than engine codes?
