whats causing car to hesitate/stall when pushing down gas pedal

The car runs perfect until you push down over halfway on gas pedal. it then stalls and hesitates like its not gettin gas .also jerks

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs-start here

I agree with rasmaz. If that is ok your problem will most likely be a faulty mass air flow sensor. Good luck and let us know what you find.
