I have to hit the shift override to get the selector to move

my automatic transmission doesn't want to move from the P position to any other positions except with the shift override bottom not responding to the brake pedal but except this when I put the Drive position it shifts all the 5 shifts perfectly, what can i do ?

the park lock solenoid gets power from the brake light switch. Make sure the brake lights are working. If not, check the switch. It's at the top of the brake pedal.

Thanks for your Reply ,after checking i found that the brake lights are working and still the transmision stick doesnt want to move from the P position to any other shift except with the shift override bottom ....
