Kindly explain in details if:
1) The Automatic Transmission (gear) has a brain box
2) why does the gear not engage above gear 3

1) yes (TCM)
2) possibly in safe / limp mode

Have the TCM (Transmission Control Module) scanned for codes / correct operation.
