2000 Toyota RAV 4. 400845 miles. Overheating. Example 1: exiting from interstate-normal temp; 2 blocks-gauge rises close to the red zone very quick then drops back down to normal just as quick. Then goes up-then down, up then down.It moves as quick as the speedometer does. Radiator-replaced; hoses-replaced; thermostat tested as good. Help!?

It sounds like *** has air pockets in the system. It's probably due to a slow leak and you would need to get it pressure tested to determine that.

Is it truely running hot? How does the pressure test reveal the leak?

It doesn't find it for you. It induces the leak so the tech can search for it. It also reveals is the system is holding pressure or leaking down.
