2000 Toyota Rav4 Car Overheating

Car was running ok check engine light on Drove about 30 miles and gauge went into HOT I let it cool down and drove home with heat on. Fans do not seem to becoming on. Think I need new thermostat. Short trips all good .What to do ??? Not leaking anywhere Radiator was replaced timing belt but no idea how to proceed

Any ideas???

check items in pic first it may be a blown fuse.

Fuses ok I am test running it a bit to see if it overheats, Goona replace thermostat and see if the fans kick in, Hopefully if not you guys will be hearing from me.

Hey Thanks For a woman I understand most of it but take me back to the 70's where everything wasn't a chip. Just hoping not not the catalytic converter

it's not a catalytic converter. if fans don't kick on check your engine coolant temp switch also if it still over heats and fans are not kicking on check relays that are pointed out. you can go to how to repair electrical, how to check a relay under our site here . It could be a head gasket which is about a $1200 repair.
