Sticky Gears

My Suzuki Jimny is an automatic but sometimes gets stuck in a low gear on start up. If i drive it slowly then turn it off and back on again (sometimes it takes a few tries) it seems to reset and will drive fine and change gears normally. What would cause this?

The most likely cause would be the shift solenoids or valve body. You need to perform diagnostices to confirm.

If the transmission fluids had not been replaced for quite some time, check its condition and replace if neccessary and retest.
