Acceleration

I was wondering if there is an adjustment on my 2000 Subaru Outback Automatic Trans that allows for a quicker downshift from overdrive to 3rd or even 2cd depending on throttle position. It seems as if it wants to stay in overdrive a litte too long before it down shifts to accelerate. I can manually down shift to 3rd or 2cnd for the proper accelearation but while the trans is in "Drive"it doesn't seem to have that "get up and go" acceleration when needed.
