I accelerate and the car falls on its face, as I milk it to go the ck eng lt is on but as i gave more throttle the engine sputters and the light blinks. Its my wife's grandmothers car that just passed away and we are thinking about donating it. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Just to add this one when the check engine light flashes it means the engine is miss firing bad enough to damage the cat.Sounds like you could have a plugged cat i would check and see what codes you have and have a back pressure test done on the exhaust.
