check for a fuel leak underhood, under vehicle..all the way back to the gas tank, with the engine running.
Do you have to fill it with gas slowly or the pump will turn off? (if so, it could be caused by the vent tube leading from the gas tank filler mouth tothe tank being clogged---this would cause a gas smell as well).
