I have a 2000 olds alero 4 cyl. Last night, I was driving through a blizzard ans as I pulled into my drive way I got stuck and my power steering went out. I checked the power steering fluid this morning and is not low at all. It is not making any funny noises while running so I think it's not a belt. Could it be from all the snow pack or a pump? Please help!

Did you test if the steering is working correctly now?

Check the power steering belt to see if it is missing. It could have been thrown out by something getting between it.

Some models are equipped with electronic power steering, ensure yours is not electronic system.

It still does not work. Where is the power steering belt located? IT's not an electronic power steering system.

On front part of engine ( passenger side). Note if any pully is not covered by a drive belt.

Start engine and note if they are turning correctly and evenly. Check if fluid in reservoir is moving, indicating the pump is working.

It shold either be on top of the pump or at side of engine compartment. Check for hoses leading to it from the pump.
